Boeing Starliner Launches Astronauts to ISS After Years of Delays

$14 Billion in Costs Incurred and Nine SpaceX Launches Made During Starliner's Grounding

United Launch Alliance Atlas V Rocket and Boeing Starliner Spacecraft Launch Targeted for Crew Mission

After years of delay, Boeing's Starliner spacecraft has launched two NASA astronauts toward the International Space Station (ISS). The Starliner is a reusable spacecraft developed by Boeing in collaboration with NASA for low-Earth orbit missions.

Boeing has incurred $14 billion in costs due to delays, while SpaceX has launched nine missions during the same period. The Starliner mission is the first for the company since 2019, when it failed to reach the ISS on its maiden voyage.

The launch, which took place from Cape Canaveral, Florida, represented a critical milestone for Boeing and NASA's Commercial Crew Program (CCP). The CCP aims to provide safe and reliable transportation of astronauts to and from the ISS.
